Running Kilo Code from your phone

Kilo Code lives inside VS Code but ships a real CLI in its extension folder — which is why it can be driven from a phone at all, and why it is not found the way the other agents are.

What Kilo Code is

A VS Code extension for agentic coding that, unlike most editor extensions, ships a command-line agent inside the extension folder. That CLI speaks the Agent Client Protocol — it is a fork of OpenCode and answers the protocol the same way, which is why it needed no new protocol work to be supported.

The modes travel with you

Kilo Code has its own set of modes — code, ask, debug, orchestrator and plan — and they are a setting on the conversation, not a different agent. On the phone they appear as a setting you can change mid-conversation, which is genuinely useful away from the desk: switch to ask or plan when you want to think through a change without the agent starting to edit.

Setting it up

  1. Have Kilo Code installed and signed in on your Mac or PC, the way you already run it.
  2. Install VibePager on the same machine. It finds the agents that are there and lists only those.
  3. Open vibepager.com/app on your phone, pair once with the code shown on the computer, pick a folder, and start.

Questions

Can I use Kilo Code from my phone?
Yes, through the CLI it ships inside its extension. The agent runs on your computer; the phone sends tasks, shows what it wants to do and takes your decision.
Kilo Code vs OpenCode?
Kilo Code is a fork of OpenCode wrapped in a VS Code extension, with its own modes and its own model routing. If you live in VS Code, Kilo; if you live in the terminal, OpenCode.
Do I need VS Code open?
The extension has to be installed, because that is where the CLI lives. The agent itself is driven as a command-line program.

VibePager runs the agents on your own machine and puts the controls on your phone.
